Suspicious You're Carrying Twins? How To Find Out

If you are pregnant and you feel like there is the possibility that you are carrying twins, there are somethings you'll want to do to find out for sure. If your genetics increase your chances of having twins or you were on a fertility medication, the sooner you find out the better.

Carrying twins is going to have difficulties and side-effects that those who aren't carrying twins don't experience, and you'll want to know so you can prepare properly. Here are a few different things you'll want to talk with your doctor about right away.

Blood Work

With blood work there could he high levels of HGH in regards to where you are at on your pregnancy, and this may indicate that you are pregnant with twins. You'll want to insist that you have blood work taken or ask that your blood work be drawn again if you haven't had any given since you first found out that you were pregnant. The sex of the babies or baby may also be determined by blood work.

Sonogram

One of the best ways to find out if you are carrying twins is with a sonogram. If your insurance usually only pays for one sonogram but your blood work shows high levels of HGH, you may be able to get an earlier sonogram. Twins aren't always detected in the early stages of pregnancy but the sonographer will look to see if they can find two sacks and two babies in your womb. Getting one as soon as you can will be best.

In Office Doppler

The doctor has a doppler machine in the office which with allows them to listen to the heart beat of the baby. If they are able to get two heartbeats on the doppler this will indicate that there are two developing babies. This may be one of the fastest ways to find out if you have twins.

There are many different signs that you may experience when you're carrying twins, and some women don't have any symptoms beyond what someone carrying one child will have. Everyone is different and reacts to pregnancy differently, but if there are signs that there are two babies in the womb you want to find out right away if you can.
